Twenty students from Years 8-11 and four staff experienced the joy of serving God together on the College’s first Regional Queensland Mission Trip in 2017.

They gave back to the local communities in Charleville and Miles, helping out with a kid’s holiday program, painting and cleaning, as well as helping in an aged care facility and leading Friday night youth.

The staff enjoyed travelling with the students and working with them at the various mission opportunities.

Regularly, the communities that the students visited, commented on the excellent behaviour of the Redlands College students, who were consistently polite and respectful. This is a huge tribute to the parents and caregivers of these teens.

The Pastors at Miles were very encouraged by the way the Redlands College students worked while painting the church, cleaning, and doing whatever was asked, always with joy and enthusiasm. It was reported that our students were a strong witness and example to the young people there.

The mission trip was one of the best experiences of my life!! It was amazing meeting so many new people, serving the communities in Miles and Charleville and putting in a lot of hard work, and then seeing the joy on people's faces when they see or notice what we have done!!

Elizabeth Hopper, Year 10 (2017)

It was an amazing feeling to know that by doing little things such as playing piano, playing games and chatting to the elderly people, we brought joy to them.  Knowing that I was able to make them smile was very heart-warming and made me very happy.

Bethany O'Neill, Year 10 (2017)

My highlight of the trip was being able to serve the Christian Outreach Centre in Miles by painting their church building. It was a fantastic opportunity to get to know others on the trip and those in the church's congregation.

Benjamin Duffield, Year 11 (2017)

What can I say, this was one of the most amazing weeks of my life. It was wonderful to see how God was working in people's lives and impacting the community through us.

Lydia Bensley, Year 10 (2017)

The mission trip was such an encouraging time of serving and sharing in fellowship together. I really enjoyed the impact that we were able to make in people's lives, particularly with the kid’s club.

Rachel Matthews, Year 11 (2017)

I really enjoyed all the opportunities to step out and grow in faith and confidence.

Gareth de Beer, Year 11 (2017)
