The 2018 Vanuatu Mission Trip was a truly life changing experience for students and staff alike.  The team spent twelve days living and working alongside staff at the Youth With a Mission (YWAM) Base, V2 Life, just outside of Port Vila, Vanuatu.

Funds raised leading up to the trip went towards several projects including the building of a water tank at a remote school. The team helped with various aspects of the build to supply clean drinking water to the school and nearby village. They were given the challenging and memorable experience of teaching classes in this remote school.

At times rain hampered the progress on outside work, however the enthusiasm of the students to give their all was not dampened. The team worked hard cleaning and painting classrooms at another school, Teouma Christian Academy, to prepare the rooms ready for opening at the beginning of next year.

Highlights were many but by far the greatest was the relationships built with local people during our time in Vanuatu. Seeing the simplicity of people’s lives and how God was at work in them strengthened and challenged the team to press into God on a much deeper level.

When students were asked what they had learnt through the mission trip the responses centred around changes in perspective, an increase in gratitude, a sense of calling to missions and to help those in need, a passion for other cultures and a greater knowledge of their own gifts and talents. It was amazing to see how God used each one to impact the lives of the local children and adults, but more incredible was the life altering changes realised in their own lives as they put their trust in God and were drawn closer to Him.
