Year 8 Japanese students visit Mt Cootha

Tuesday 29 Oct 2019 by Mrs Fukushige

Our Year 8 Japanese students enjoyed a visit to the Japanese gardens at Mt Cootha.

While there, they learned about elements of Japanese garden design and used the beautiful setting to inspire them in cultural activities such as Haiku poem writing as well as Sumi-e ink paintings. They also enjoyed authentic Japanese cuisine with a traditional packed lunchbox known as an obento.

Students used the backdrop of the gardens to film for their assessment, On the Road, where they will be required to make a promotional video for Japanese visitors to Brisbane.
