September School Holiday Activity Ideas

Friday 13 Sep 2019 by Library@Redlands
The holidays are almost here and nobody wants the kids just sitting on the couch and glued to a screen so the Library has compiled a list of fun events, places to visit and activities to try.
You might want to watch the fireworks at Riverfire, attend a hip hop academy at Chermside, screen print a tee-shirt or design your own skateboard deck at the Museum of Brisbane, learn how to make sushi at the Botanic Gardens or visit the North Stradbroke Island Museum for their family fun day to hear about the weird and wonderful creatures of the sea.
A specific year 5 curriculum related activity for students is the NASA - A human adventure exhibition only on at the QLD Museum until the 9th October.  Another activity of special interest that ties narrative writing in with the cross curriculum priority of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Histories and Cultures is 'Illustration for storytellers' with Indigenous artist Tori-Jay Morday at the Museum of Brisbane on Wednesday 2nd October.
Some of the activities cost money and bookings are required but many others are free, so please take the time to visit the September holiday events and activity ideas web page for a comprehensive list.
