Geography Students Excel in Australian Geography Competition

Geography students from Redlands College tested their geographical skills and knowledge against students from all around Australia in the 2018 Australian Geography Competition.

Geography teachers, Mrs Cathy Hegarty and Mrs Melina Walton were pleased with how their students had performed, with four students gaining high distinctions, five gaining distinctions and nine achieving credits. Over 72,000 students from 780 schools across Australia entered the Australian Geography Competition.

Bernard Fitzpatrick, the Competition’s national coordinator, said; “The Competition aims to encourage student interest in geography and to reward student excellence.” The Competition is a joint initiative of the Australian Geography Teachers’ Association and the Royal Geographical Society of Queensland, and in Queensland it is sponsored by the University of Queensland.
