Last weekend the year 10 Drama students had the opportunity to view Queensland Theatre’s gripping production of Jasper Jones.
Kate Mulvany’s adaptation of Craig Silvey’s novel is a bittersweet, joyous coming-of-age yarn set in a community where every weatherboard house hides a dark secret. The play follows Charlie Bucktin and Jasper Jones who come upon a gruesome crime out by the dam. Somewhere between Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird and classic movie Stand by Me, the stirring and sometimes harrowing performance thoroughly captivated the students.
It was a great opportunity to engage with live Theatre, where students gain appreciation for performance and enjoy a thought-provoking experience together.
