Student Achievements in Rugby Union

Monday 14 Oct 2019 by Achievements@Redlands
Over the October long weekend, the Gold Coast District Rugby Union hosted the inaugural U13's Rugby Exchange carnival. The following teams were invited to play: NSW State team, WA State team, Gold Coast District Team, Brisbane City Team and SA State Team. The SA State Team had to withdraw so the Queensland Tonga Junior Rugby Union club was invited to enter a Barbarians team playing the in the QTJRU colours.

Congratulations to Year 8 student, James Oxenham, who was invited to trial and was selected in the 23 man squad. This team was chosen from all boys playing under the Brisbane Junior Rugby Union (BJRU), not already selected for the Brisbane City Team.

The team did exceptionally well beating NSW, WA and Gold Coast. They lost only to Brisbane City who won the carnival and the QTJRU Barbarians came second.

Below is a photo of the three boys from Redlands Rugby Union Club who were selected for the team, with James in the centre.
