Year 8 Japanese Excursion to Mt Coot-tha

Friday 10 Nov 2017 by Middle School

On Thursday, October 26 twenty-five excited Year 8 Japanese students visited the Japanese Garden at Mt Coot-tha. They experienced a 2 hour lesson and were instructed in the concepts of the garden design, participated in haiku poetry writing and tried their hand at sumi-e painting (blank ink painting). Upon conclusion of their lesson, the students dined on Japanese obentou (packed lunch boxes) and visited the Bonsai House.

The Year 8 students thoroughly enjoyed experiencing Japan in the beautiful garden designed by the late Kenzo Ogata, one of Japan's leading landscape architects.
