Year 10 students visited the the Old Police Museum and Boggo Road Gaol on an excursion this week.
At the police museum the students heard about the processes involved in the investigation of a 2001 murder case.
They then went to Boggo Road Gaol, which was in operation until 1992. The students were given a tour of Boggo Road Gaol's Number 2 Division by an ex-inmate who shared firsthand accounts of what daily life was like inside the walls of one of Australia’s most notorious prisons. Since his release from prison Wayne Weaver has worked with the Attorney General and Justice Department to bring much needed reform to the prison system, so the students benefitted from his excellent presentation and insights.
