BCS Soccer Tournament

Tuesday 22 Aug 2017 by Thomas Hieck

Last week on Friday the 18th of August, Redlands College participated for the first time in the Christian Schools Tournament Open Boys division, held in Park Ridge.

Over the course of the day the boys played 5 games, winning each game of the group stage 1-0 against Hillbrook Anglican School, Calvary Christian College and Groves Christian College.

After gaining maximum points in the group stages the team moved into the semi final, facing Groves again, this time winning a decisive penalty shootout before making their way to the final.

Facing Citipointe Christian College, the only other undefeated team in the final proved a challenge for both sides, with the final score ending 0-0. Again Redlands faced another penalty shootout, but this time were unlucky, finishing runners up in the tournament out of 11 teams.

Good work to all the boys who participated: Dan Myners, Jake Winterton, Thomas Hieck, Archie Stevens, Sam Jagger, Lucas Toth, Caleb Bailey, Jack Easton, Alex Harwood, Sam Benson, Josiah Walker, Todor Kostov, Matt Tong, Tristan Smith, Brooklyn Parker-Jones and Korey Hooper and to Mr Pattearson for leading the team to the final.

With their hard work on the day, Redlands were the only team that did not concede a goal during regular time in the tournament and can be very proud making the schools first competition entry.

Great effort boys!
