Year 12's are Building Community

Sunday 30 Jul 2017 by Senior School
The Year 12 art class in conjunction with Queensland Rail are painting a community inspired mural on the railway underpass behind the senior oval. Sophie Thompson in Year 12 first asked if we could do the project as her Dad used to work at QR and had contacts in the Public Art department.

The theme the students have settled on is "Building Community" and they have also been inspired by The Puzzle Art Installation and Collaborative project. Particularly by the Deepak Chopra Quote
"There are no extra pieces of the universe. Everyone is here because she or he has a place to fill and every piece must fit itself into the big jigsaw puzzle of life".  They particularly like the idea of painting different community minded inspirations within puzzle piece shapes.

We have done a marquette of what a finished piece will look like. The green of the wall will form part of each puzzle piece and further unify it. Initially we will do the whole mural in black line and then add colour once the whole work is drawn in.
