Last month was National Consumer Fraud Week (15-19 May 2017). This annual awareness program is run by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC). It provides an opportunity to raise public awareness of scam activity and equips us with the knowledge to identify scams and avoid falling victim. The theme this year was ‘Spot social media scams’ and was aimed at raising awareness of scams targeting Australians through social media.
Staysmartonline.gov.au have developed a resource kit to help promote consumer fraud awareness.
